Mercy Housing and Human Development helps create new cottage neighborhood in Ocean Springs, Miss.

Mercy Housing and Human Development, Inc., administered a program marshaling the skills of a unique private, public and nonprofit partnership to create a new cottage neighborhood in Ocean Springs, Miss.  The Cottages at Oak Park, 30 hurricane-resistant homes, had its grand opening August 11, 2011.

Located downtown, the cottages are within walking or biking distance of schools, stores, restaurants and other civic amenities.  A nearby transit stop makes this one of the few places on the Mississippi Coast where residents can function without a car.  See news coverage here, an informative blog posting here, and photographs below courtesy Mercy Housing and Human Development.
