Capacity Building
San Diego LISC is committed to
developing the capacity of local organizations to carry out comprehensive
community development initiatives throughout San Diego neighborhoods.
For the past 15 years, San Diego LISC has increased the capacity of local community development organizations by providing them with the financial and technical assistance they need to enhance their business practices, administer effective programs and address the comprehensive needs of the communities they serve. We also provide human capital support to local community development organizations through our LISC Americorps program, which places civic-minded individuals at local organizations for a one-year term of service.
The San Diego LISC capacity building programs are complemented by our Technical Assistance and Training offerings.
Capacity Building Initiative
With assistance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Section 4 Program, San Diego LISC currently provides community-based nonprofit groups working throughout San Diego County with performance-based grants to support their capacity building and organizational development activities. HUD Section 4 grant funds are disbursed on a reimbursement basis and may be utilized to cover a range of eligible expenses, including staff salaries, consultant fees, tuition for training programs, and operational overhead costs such as office space rent, utilities charges and technology upgrades.
This grant funding allows local organizations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their current initiatives, as well as to expand programmatic offerings.
