Developer-Police Partnerships
Improving public safety is often a critical step on the path to neighborhood revitalization. While community developers and police usually have the same core goal—to make a neighborhood a safer, better place to live—they often face challenges in working together due to historic mistrust, differences in the way they do business, or lack of understanding about each other’s resources.
Through CSI, police and CDCs overcome these challenges through formal partnerships. They work together to strategically select, coordinate and implement their development and crime-control efforts to produce synergistic results: crime reduction that creates a stable environment for development, and development that contributes to crime prevention.
LISC CSI brings expertise and institutional relationships to the table to enhance local projects. It also produces case studies, training curricula and other program materials that describe successful projects, detail the program strategy, and educate practitioners about tackling specific crime and safety challenges.
