Gifts of $100,000+LISC enjoys important partnerships with long-time and new supporters. We thank donors that have made extraordinary gifts of $500,000 or more for LISC national and local programs and initiatives.
State Farm
$8,000,000State Farm renewed its significant commitment to LISC with a three-year $8,000,000 grant. This funding will support the community development activities of several national and local LISC programs.
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
$4,230,600The MacArthur Foundation awarded Chicago LISC a three-year $3,000,000 grant to support the Centers for Working Families program, an initiative piloted by Chicago LISC to help families increase their incomes and build assets. An additional $50,000 was awarded to National LISC for the program. The Foundation also provided a three-year $750,000 grant for the LISC-MetroEdge initiative, a newly-acquired market research unit that will help in LISC’s efforts to stimulate retail and commercial development in urban neighborhoods. LISC-MetroEdge will work initially to assess the market potential of 16 Chicago neighborhoods as part of Chicago LISC's New Communities Program. The Foundation awarded Chicago LISC several additional grants, including $325,600 for continuing support of the New Communities Program and $100,000 for participation in an Atlantic Philanthropies demonstration of integrated services in extended-day schools in Chicago.
NFL Youth Football Fund
$2,767,997The NFL Youth Football Fund renewed its support of LISC with a grant for the NFL Grassroots Program, a partnership to create and renovate community playing fields across America.
The McKnight Foundation
$2,400,000The McKnight Foundation renewed and increased its support of LISC’s Twin Cities program with a three-year grant. In addition to general operating support, this funding will support the Twin Cities Fund for Neighborhood Development and Fund for Affordable Housing Production, as well as the Suburban Partnership Fund.
Oprah’s Angel Network
$2,154,000Oprah’s Angel Network awarded a two-year grant for LISC's Gulf Region Rebuilding Initiative. This funding will support the long-term rebuilding of homes, businesses and community facilities in the towns of D’Iberville, Mississippi and New Iberia, Louisiana. This is a new donor to LISC.
Lilly Endowment Inc.
$1,850,000The Lilly Endowment renewed and increased its support of LISC's Indianapolis program with three grants totaling $1,850,000.
The Annie E. Casey Foundation
$1,385,000The Annie E. Casey Foundation provided a three-year $625,000 grant to support the expansion of the Centers for Working Families program to at least two additional LISC programs. The Foundation also renewed its support of LISC’s Housing Authority Resource Center with a one-year grant of $190,000, and provided grants of $250,000 and $95,000 to Chicago and Twin Cities LISC, respectively. In addition, Hartford LISC received $50,000 for the Hartford Collaborative for Community Organizing and $75,000 for the Hartford Neighborhood Development Support Collaborative, Milwaukee LISC received $75,000 for its Washington Park Partners program, and LISC’s Educational Facilities Financing Center received $25,000 for a charter facility financing study.
Fannie Mae
$1,130,000The Fannie Mae Foundation renewed its support of LISC with a $900,000 one-year grant that will support 16 local LISC programs, as well as the Affordable Housing Preservation Initiative, Housing Authority Resource Center, Knowledge Sharing Initiative and Public Policy program. The Foundation also awarded a one-year $200,000 grant to Washington, DC LISC for its community development activities. In addition, Rural LISC received $10,000 for its 15th Annual Seminar, “Making Rural America Work”, and small grants were awarded to LISC's Bay Area, Indianapolis, Mid South Delta, Milwaukee, Rhode Island and South Florida programs.
The Rockefeller Foundation
$1,250,000The Rockefeller Foundation renewed and increased its support of LISC with two grants totaling $1,250,000.
Washington Mutual
$1,091,000Washington Mutual renewed its significant commitment to LISC with a one-year grant of $1,071,000. In addition to general operating support, this grant will support the community development activities of 13 local LISC programs, as well as Rural LISC. Additional grants were awarded to LISC's Milwaukee and South Florida programs.
W.K. Kellogg Foundation
$1,050,000The W. K. Kellogg Foundation renewed and increased its support of LISC's Mid-South Delta program with a four-year $1,000,000 grant. An additional $50,000 was awarded to Rural LISC.
The McNeely Foundation
$1,000,000The McNeely Foundation provided a five-year grant for Twin Cities LISC's Pilot Cities Initiative. This funding will help revitalize two commercial corridors in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This is a new donor to LISC.
The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation
$816,667The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation awarded a four-year grant to support Greater Kansas City LISC’s NeighborhoodsNow program. This new initiative will provide resources and support to Kansas City neighborhoods that are undertaking comprehensive redevelopment, including neighborhood planning, safety programs, and housing, retail and commercial projects.
Hartford Foundation for Public Giving
$803,000The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving awarded a one-year $375,000 grant to the Hartford Collaborative for Community Organizing, for which LISC serves as fiscal agent. Hartford LISC also received a three-year $400,000 grant, as well as an additional grants totaling $28,000.
Prudential Financial, Inc.
$780,000Prudential provided a one-year $500,000 grant to support LISC's Gulf Region Rebuilding Initiative. In addition, LISC's Public Policy program received a two-year $150,000 grant for its policy work at the federal, state and local levels , and Greater Newark & Jersey City LISC received two grants totaling $130,000.
Citigroup
$675,000Citigroup (removed ‘has') provided grants to National LISC, in additional to the Bay Area, Chicago, Connecticut, Houston, Greater Kansas City, New York City, South Florida, Tampa Bay and Washington, DC programs.
MetLife Foundation
$662,000The MetLife Foundation awarded a one-year $600,000 grant to LISC's Community Safety Initiative. Grants were also provided to LISC's New York City and Rhode Island programs.
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation
$650,000The Greater Cincinnati Foundation awarded a three-year $450,000 grant to support the community development activities of LISC's Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky program. The Foundation also provided a two-year $200,000 grant to support LISC's Gulf Region Rebuilding Initiative, assisting in LISC’s efforts to help community development corporations rebuild hurricane-devastated communities in the Southeast.
The Home Depot Foundation
$500,000The Home Depot Foundation renewed its funding for LISC's Healthy and Efficient Neighborhood Homes Partnership with a $500,000 grant.
