Programs
The Palm Beach County LISC program ascended to a new
level with the introduction of our comprehensive initiative, the Signature Projects Portfolio. Our
community capacity building efforts of the past three years began to pay off as
the groups started to implement comprehensive community initiatives such as the
Phoenix Project in Riviera Beach, Faith Based Initiatives in Pleasant City and
Boynton Beach, the “E” Street Initiative in Lake Worth, the West Settlers
District Project in Delray Beach and the 34th Street Model Block in West Palm
Beach, all of which are comprehensive revitalization projects with housing,
small business, community facility, garden, park and cultural components. These efforts have resulted in premier
projects like Atlantic Grove and Phoenix
Place. Palm Beach County LISC will invest more
than $10 million in these efforts in the next two years, leveraging another $100
million in private and public financing.
- vSince the Palm Beach County program was established in 1991, LISC has invested $21 million in developing neighborhood-based revitalization efforts in the Glades, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth, Limestone Creek in Jupiter, Northwest Riviera Beach, Pearl City in Boca Raton and Northwood/Pleasant City in West Palm Beach.
- Has leveraged more than $225 million in additional commercial and public financing for these projects.
- Has generated a pipeline of more than 2,300 affordable homes in the last ten years.
- Is poised to offer leadership in developing the number of affordable homes needed through the year 2010, as well as vital commercial districts, job-creating industrial projects, charter schools, childcare, and the vast array of other resources that comprise a healthy community.
