Mission
“Lagrange Development Corporation is a community
organization comprised of residents, business owners, community institutions and
other interested individuals who work together to maintain and enhance a
neighborhood of economic and ethnic
diversity.”
Priorities for 2004-2005
* Work with the CBS Corridors Coalition to obtain $2.6 million in streetscape improvements on Lagrange Street and $1.5 million to renovate the Ohio Theatre* Raise $600,000 for construction of a community center on Elm Street
* Construction and sale of 10 houses for homeownership
* Initiation of a 25-house tax credit project with NorthRiver Development Corporation
* Continuation of the Weed and Seed Program to reduce crime through partnerships with NorthRiver and focus on projects to reduce recidivism rates
* Find a second tenant to occupy the remaining 4,000 square feet of commercial building owned by Lagrange Development Corporation at 3101 Lagrange Street
* Work with the New Schools New Neighborhoods group to comprehensively revitalize the neighborhood around Sherman School
Proudest Achievement
Completion of a 10-house subdivision called Heritage
Village built to blend in with the existing neighborhood. These unique 1,700
square foot homes sold to households with diverse incomes at a price up to
$110,000. Total project cost was $1.5 million and was completed in
2002.
