Organized Neighbors Yielding eXcellence
Serving area bounded by Collingwood, Dorr, Swan Creek and Brown streets since 1989
Mission
“Our vision is to improve the
quality of life in our community through the process of neighborhood-based
change. Specifically, we aim to accomplish this through the education of
community residents in the importance of taking unified action around common
issues concerning neighborhood; the creation of affordable housing
opportunities; the preservation of the rehabilitation of homes for existing and
new residents; and efforts to rebuild and stabilize the economic base of the
neighborhood.”
* ONYX will be launching its One Block at a Time housing development project. The project is designed to offer 15 affordable, for sale homes to families at or below 60 percent of area median income. The project is being planned in conjunction with the rebuilding of a neighborhood school.
Proudest Achievement
Washington Village Estates, which when completed will be a
subdivision of 19 market rate homes with sale prices averaging from $150,000 to
in excess of $200,000. The subdivision, the first market-rate development in the
central city in over 40 years, is adjacent to public housing and is surrounded
by low-income housing tax credit homes. The project will have leveraged more
than $4 million in private investment.
