Mission
“The purposes of Housing East Redevelopment Corporation
are: 1) To stimulate reinvestment in the blighted areas. 2) To provide home
ownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income households. 3) To assist in
the rehabilitation and preservation of the existing housing stock, including,
but not limited to, purchasing, rehabilitating, marketing and selling
residential properties that have an influence on surrounding properties. 4) To
instruct and train low- and moderate-income residences in the availability and
use of public and private financing tools for homeownership and home
improvement. 5) To act in any other fashion as is proper to further the goals
and purposes of the Corporation.”
Priorities for 2004-2005
* Build two more new homes
* Develop a new neighborhood with new
homes by acquiring several vacant lots
* Acquire more vacant homes for
rehab
Proudest Achievement
3rd Street – Historic Renovation. Rehabs are done mostly by
volunteers and when completed, the houses are the “nicest” on the
block.
