We are everywhere. LISC’s involvement is quite visible in highly successful projects throughout our community. LISC provides predevelopment loans, funding for construction and organizational capacity building support.
Trace the beginnings of many successful local developments and you will find LISC … encouraging reinvestment, and serving as a catalyst, a facilitator and a bridge. For every $1 invested locally, LISC brings in another $20 from national LISC. Now, that’s a strong return on an investment!
Toledo LISC’s mission is to provide support to area CDCs and assist them in securing resources they need to fully realize each community’s potential. Jobs and business growth are results of this assistance. Development leads to business growth, which means jobs for our residents. As neighborhoods are improved, people move in and fill those jobs, completing a circle of change.
LISC offers a broad range of programs to assist CDCs in their community redevelopment efforts. These include: Pre-development funds and support, construction financing, direct project equity through LISC’s National Equity Fund for housing development, training and technical support, operating support through the Toledo Fund for Neighborhood Development, program resources such as the LISC Community Safety Initiative collaboration with the Department of Justice Weed and Seed Program and the Commercial Corridors Revitalization Program to energize neighborhood business districts. As a result of this support, hundreds of people have teamed with dedicated community leaders, government officials and private businesses to transform their communities.
