Start High School awarded $250k from NFL to improve athletic field

7.03.2018

On May 10th, 2018, Start High School celebrated receiving a $250,000 grant from the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program, which Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) manages, to update their field. The school band and cheerleaders were out in full force, creating an exciting atmosphere during the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by representatives from NFL, Cleveland Browns, and Toledo Public Schools.

The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program provides non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations with financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local football fields. The program is a partnership of the National Football League Foundation, which provides funding, and LISC. LISC partners with the NFL because of the shared value that athletic fields can help transform neighborhoods by offering opportunities for recreation, education and relaxation that contribute to the local quality of life. The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program seeks to redress the shortage of clean, safe and accessible football fields in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
