LISC & ProMedica Announced a $45 Million Partnership

On March 13, 2018, LISC & ProMedica announced an unprecedented new partnership aimed at improving social determinants of health through a community development lens. The $45 Million investment will fund opportunities for employment, income-building, education, community safety and affordable housing—all the social determinants that shape a person’s health. Read more here .

Start High School awarded $250,000 Grant

On May 10, The  NFL  Foundation Grassroots Program, which  Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) manages, awarded Start High School a $250,000 grant to update their sports field. Read more here .

Family Food Center Grand Re-Opening

Family Food Center   celebrated their grand re-opening, expansion, and investment in the Junction/at Dorr & Detroit! The newly renovated  Family Food Center  will not only drive economic opportunities in the Junction neighborhood, it will also increase access to healthy foods in the area. Read more here.

SafeGrowth Training

The SafeGrowth Training program was held on June 26 & 27. SafeGrowth introduces participants to crime prevention through environmental design & examining the physical conditions of a neighborhood to increase community safety. It is a hands-on training and walks teams through risk assessment, methods of minimizing the physical opportunity for crime, and addressing the social conditions that generate crime opportunities in their neighborhood. Two follow up meetings are scheduled for August.
