Our Work

We support real estate projects that benefit community residents, opportunity centers that help people achieve financial stability, and creative placemaking that improves neighborhood economies.

One of our focus areas is improvements to the built environment that benefit neighborhoods and their residents. To date, that includes the construction or preservation of more than 14,000 units of affordable housing and the creation or renovation of 2.4 million square feet of commercial and community space.

Through five local Financial Opportunity Centers, we fund partners who provide basic education that's culturally competent and matched to industry needs, and who offer long-term career and financial coaching that leads to family financial stability.

LISC Twin Cities was one of the earliest proponents of comprehensive community development that improves quality of life and assures neighborhood vibrancy. We continue to explore a range of innovations in creative placemaking and community health.

In addition, both national LISC and LISC Twin Cities pursue continuous research and offer a variety of learnings on community development topics.
