The Built Environment

When it comes to real estate projects that benefit the community, we don’t just dip our toes in the water. We go deep and get in early—when risk is highest.

Our priorities:

  • Our real estate financing includes feasibility grants and predevelopment and acquisition funding. We can also help finance a project through construction through loans and equity.
  • Our COACTION program offers technical assistance and support to developers in order to help shape the outcome of their projects, garner political support, and maximize community impact.
  • Our Corridor Development Initiative provides communities with an innovative, hands-on approach to matching community priorities with development realities.

In addition, we lead the regional Housing Collaborative Initiative, which regularly brings together more than 100 community and housing development professionals from the suburbs to discuss housing related ideas, resources, and opportunities. And we were a partner in the Big Picture Project, a research and planning collaboration that aligned resources for affordable housing along the Green Line light rail.
