Are you looking for products or services that offer you the expertise and time efficiency you need to make changes in your community? The Urban Forum Vendor Marketplace housed a variety of resources that have helped transform countless cities and urban neighborhoods across the nation. Peruse the list of 2008 exhibitors to see if there is a product or service for your community.
Several service providers, consultants, and developers exhibited at Urban Forum 2008. The intimate environment allowed them to reach more than 500 community development professionals, developers, retail experts, and public and private investors from across the nation. The vendors were an integral part of the conference and received an enormous amount of foot traffic, since beverages and snacks were served in the exhibit hall.
This was a prime opportunity for developers to connect with community groups ripe with unrealized residential and commercial development plans or for community development consultants to meet new clientele. A developer built relationships with urban communities, while those that work to build infrastructure and visual enhancements on streets met with government and community groups. If you are interested in finding an attentive audience that seeks your service and exhibiting at the next Urban Forum, please contact Alnisha Maniaci at (212) 455-9811 or amaniaci@lisc.org for more information.

The Retail Incubation Group, started by Chuck D'Aprix, is a consulting firm designed to help commercial districts develop retail incubators from concept through completion. Retail Incubators are "centers of entrepreneurship" that allow creative and innovative people to start their businesses in a supportive environment, receive appropriate training, consulting, and financing -- with the goal of incubator members ultimately "graduating" into a storefront of their own. This is a win-win situation-incubator members receive support and start new businesses while they live out their dreams-and commercial districts receive a steady flow of new retail businesses. The Retail Incubation Group is aligned with Economic Development Visions, a maverick, rule-breaking, innovative economic development consulting organization that understands the unique needs of urban commercial districts.

If your current data-management system can be sung to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (12 scary Access files, 10 Excel spreadsheets, 8 ancient Word files, 6 random business cards, 4 scraps of paper, and one very frazzled director), you'll whistle a happier tune with the easy-to-use Main Streets Database Template from Downtown Diva, for all your needs--labels, lists, email, sponsorships, memberships, facade/sign projects, vacancies, volunteers, business directory/statistics, property info/ownership, BID formulas, and much more! Downtown Diva also offers Constant Contact email marketing subscriptions at a substantial savings to you and your district businesses, as well as other consulting services.

Abandoned buildings are often the focus of newspaper headlines and nightly new reports. They can be eyesores that drag down the spirit of an entire neighborhood. They can also be dangerous, attracting vandalism, and criminal activity. Our mission is to provide a range of services which not only make vacant property more attractive, but safer and more secure. We are dedicated to helping revitalize neighborhoods by providing cost effective solutions to abate the challenges that face derelict properties.
