30th Anniversary Celebrations 

Breakfast Celebrating Nonprofit Partners – November 8, 2011
The breakfast, attended by over 120 nonprofit partners representing 50+ organizations, was held at The Atlas Performing Arts Center, a landmark theater on H Street, NE.  After a networking coffee hour, the sharing and reminiscing continued with an interactive program complete with a “community development trivia game” and the presentation of the Arthur S. Flemming Community Leadership Award to Robert Moore, President of the Development Corporation of Columbia Heights.  See our video tribute to Mr. Moore,  view photos  from the breakfast,  and watch our video of reflections from our partners on LISC reaching the 30 year mark.

New DC LISC Website – Launched January 2012
DC LISC's new website, www.lisc.org/washington_dc,  offers visitors information about LISC, its goals, accomplishments,  and the latest news and resources.     

Community Development Retrospective Book – To Be Published Summer 2012
DC LISC is adding the finishing touches on a special edition book that highlights the stories and scenes of community development in Washington, DC.  Chapters include: “Awakening of H Street” and “Long Slow Road to a Dedicated Fund for Housing.”  The highlight of the book is the moving tributes to nine Washington, DC Community Development Trailblazers.  The book will be published as an eBook with a limited number of hard copies.

A Video: Community Development in Congress Heights – Currently In Production
DC LISC is producing a video to capture the scenes of community development in the Congress Heights neighborhood.  The video will include interviews with the neighbors of Congress Heights residents and individuals representing organizations who have been instrumental in bringing about a better quality of life in the neighborhood.

Community Development Oral History Archive – To Be Released Fall 2012
In compiling material for the retrospective book, DC LISC conducted and preserved oral interviews with over 67 people.  Audio files and transcripts of the interviews will be made available online for the general public.        

Community Development Reunion: A Tribute to Our Trailblazers – September 24, 2012
DC LISC will bring together 200-300 nonprofit, business, philanthropic, and government leaders in community development for an extraordinary reunion.  The event, held at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, will include an energetic networking reception and stirring tributes to nine community development trailblazers.
