Hope Apartments

In 2006, Community of Hope (COH) renovated a vacant, boarded up property that was donated to them at 3715 2nd Street, SE in Congress Heights.

Now called Hope Apartments, the renovated units opened in April 2006 and provide housing with supportive services for families whose heads of households are in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction. Residents do not pay rent, but pay as they are able into an escrow account.

COH deliberately designed the building to have larger units to address the critical shortage of space for larger families. The basement is used for tenant services, including a computer lab, a children’s play room, an adult meeting space, and offices for social services staff.
