National ProgramsAs part of a National organization, DC LISC is able to bring additional resources and technical assistance to Washington DC. Organizational Development InitiativeThe Organizational Development Initiative (ODI) was created in 1996 as LISC's in-house management consultant. ODI provides trainings, tools and technical assistance for improving day-to-day operations and strategic planning and management of LISC's partner CDCs. ODI designs state-of-the-art programs to help field-based staff enhance their ability to offer significant, tangible assistance to CDCs, as well, as direct services to CDCs. Affordable Housing Preservation InitiativeLISC's Affordable Housing Preservation Initiative is dedicated to reducing the loss of rental housing that is affordable to low-income families, especially among the nearly 2 million units of federally-assisted housing facing expiring rent and mortgage subsidies. The program provides technical support to LISC's field offices and local CDCs; seeks new financing solutions to support preservation activities; and develops and maintains partnerships with other nonprofit stakeholders to help keep these properties safe, in good repair, and affordable for low-income families. Housing Authority Resource CenterThe Housing Authority Resource Center’s (HARC) mission is to provide technical assistance and coordination between LISC offices, Local Housing Authorities, and CDCs to increase partnerships and opportunities to create affordable housing opportunities for American families and effect neighborhood redevelopment. HARC has worked with more than 40 Housing Authorities since the program's inception, assisting with technical advice, tax credit syndication and project development. Many of these housing authorities have started non-profit development corporations, are revitalizing public housing using mixed finance housing resources, partnering with CDCs to develop homeownership opportunities, and are making great strides in visibly impacting their communities. Community Investment Collaborative for KidsLISC's Community Investment Collaborative for Kids (CICK) was created to improve the quality and expand the supply of child care in low-income communities through new investments in physical facilities. CICK (pronounced "kick") works at the federal, state and local levels to develop sources of flexible and affordable financing to support child care facilities development in LISC program sites nationwide. CICK also provides project-specific technical assistance, resource materials and training programs community development corporations (CDCs) and child care providers on all aspects of child care facility design, development and finance. NFL Grassroots ProgramThe NFL Youth Football Fund Grassroots Program is a partnership of the National Football League Youth Football Fund (NFL YFF) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to provide non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations, middle schools and high schools with financing and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields. Public PolicyLISC maintains an active public policy presence at the federal, state, and local levels. Our core values, more than 20 years of experience, and local presence in diverse communities nationwide provide LISC with a unique perspective on public policy. LISC’s policy work has brought substantial new resources to housing and economic development, child care, and organizational development. |
