About the Program

Through their 10-month service term, LISC AmeriCorps members have done everything from financial counseling and job placement to housing development and more. Along the way, they engage local residents in volunteering to improve the health, safety, and the beauty of their neighborhoods. Many members serve the very communities where they live.

Through LISCs partnership with the Mel King Institute for Community Building, the AmeriCorps members participate in a series of trainings and receive a certificate from the Institute at the end of their service. While in service, members receive a living stipend. Upon completion, members receive an education award that can be used towards qualified loans or future schooling.
