LISC Boston Testifies in Support of the Affordable Homes Act

Yesterday, LISC Boston joined Massachusetts leaders in testifying before the Joint Committee on Housing in support of the Affordable Homes Act. The Affordable Homes Act is core to the Healey Administration’s efforts to address the housing crisis in Massachusetts.

LISC Boston’s Senior Program Officer Emily Jones lauded the $150 million public housing decarbonization and $115 million sustainable and climate-resilient affordable housing funds earmarked in the AHA. With one-third of all carbon emissions in Massachusetts coming from our two million existing buildings and a public housing stock in deep dire need of repair and investment, the public housing decarbonization funds in the bill tackle two immediate challenges at once.

Emily has helped lead the Zero Carbon Renovation Fund Coalition, a coalition of leaders advocating for the allocation of $300 million from the Massachusetts State Legislature for a Zero Carbon Renovation Fund to jumpstart the market for zero carbon renovations in existing buildings in Massachusetts.
