AmeriCorps COVID-19 Response Cohort

The COVID-19 crisis has had a disproportionate impact on Connecticut’s most vulnerable communities. Our community-based partners are on the front lines of this crisis and many are facing great urgency to respond to the needs of the people they serve.

Due to this increased need, LISC Connecticut has announced its first AmeriCorps summer cohort, specifically focused on responding to emergency needs stemming from COVID-19.

Individuals selected for this cohort will complete 300 or 450 hours of service during the summer and receive a living stipend as well as an education award.

The following organizations are participating in LISC Connecticut’s AmeriCorps COVID-19 Response Cohort as placement sites:

Hands on Hartford

  • Hands on Hartford will host a Community Engagement Manager and Direct Service Coordinator to plan, organize, and implement community engagement projects on site and virtually.

Enfield Food Shelf (position available)

  • Enfield Food Shelf is seeking an Assistant Outreach Coordinator to provide support for all of its food assistance programs and to work on events with partner organizations. This is a 300-hour placement. Click here to read more about the description and for instructions on how to apply.

  • Foodshare will host a COVID Response Assistant to support an increased number of food distributions throughout the summer.

Journey Home

  • Journey Home will host a Housing Solutions Case Manager to help connect clients with rental assistance.

For Nonprofits:

LISC Connecticut has one remaining unallocated 300-hour member placement reserved for a nonprofit organization addressing an increased need in services such as food distribution, employment, housing security, and senior wellness due to COVID-19. If you are interested in applying for a summer AmeriCorps placement, please email Farhana Arif to learn more about the requirements for the program.
