LISC knows how important managing and maintaining your affordable housing portfolio is to your organization, your tenants, your community, and your bottom line. We also know that the COVID-19 crisis has emphasized the need for asset managers to have accurate and timely information about property and portfolio performance, especially during unplanned events or stress factors such as the current health and economic crisis.

LISC is committed to supporting our housing partners during this unprecedented time and are excited to announce the latest in our Asset Management Training Institute (AMTI) Series: Property & Portfolio Stress Test Training.

Register today for the FREE Property & Portfolio Stress Test Webinar! Space is limited.

The instructor for this series is Jack Geary. Jack has over 35 years of asset management, property management and real estate development experience in the not-for-profit and public sectors. Geary is the retired director of operations for the Cambridge (MA) Housing Authority, and is the former director of management for the San Francisco Housing Authority, director of Urban Edge Property Management (Boston), and property manager and director of senior housing at Boston Housing Authority.

Why Is This Workshop Helpful?

Participants will explore the importance of revised property and portfolio projections considering financial stress assumptions caused by an unanticipated external crisis situations - in this case, the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the session, participants will be better prepared to conduct a "stress-test" analysis of their properties, while fully considering the portfolio impact on the sponsor organization.
By closely linking the property stress-test projections to the portfolio-sponsor impact, the workshop will assist nonprofit housing owners to develop financial mitigation strategies to better prepare the organization to withstand the financial stress.

Asset Management at the Crossroads - Bold Ideas for Resiliency
Wednesday, June 24, 2020 | 9AM - 10:30AM | Online

Asset management is, quite simply, achieving the owner’s goals. But what are our organizational goals in a world shaken by the pandemic and riven by inequity and injustice?

Our traditional asset management infrastructure did not link our goals well. Our usual practice and measures such as data trending, projections, and analytics served financial outcomes but, often, not human outcomes. Now our goals and tools must work together. The survival of our residents, our communities and our properties are at stake.

This webinar will feature the work of three outstanding nonprofit owners and where they believe asset management should be going in the next few years. Be inspired by bold ideas about how our work and perspectives may change around racial equity, resident health, community needs, disaster planning, technology, investment, reserves and more.

Halfway to Democracy: 25 Years of Community Development Finance
City National Bank, 555 S Flower Street, 13th floor, Los Angeles, 90071
Monday, September 16, 2019 | 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

September 23, 2019 will mark 25 years since the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) Fund was signed into law. Today, there are more than a thousand certified CDFIs, with as much as $175 billion in total assets. They have made an impressive impact on community development—but arguably less so on banking. Have CDFIs promoted “community ownership and governance,” as the original statute directed? Have they empowered minority communities? What are the new forms of community capital-raising and investment?

Clifford N. Rosenthal, cofounder of the CDFI movement, will explore these questions through a presentation based on his recent book, Democratizing Finance: Origins of the Community Development Financial Institutions Movement, which traces the 200-year history of efforts to address financial exclusion in the United States, culminating in the campaign of grassroots activists to unite their vision with that of presidential candidate Bill Clinton.

Cliff Rosenthal formerly headed the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (now known as Inclusiv). In Los Angeles, he assisted the organizing of the South Central Peoples FCU and the Episcopal Community FCU.
