In Fall 2019, LISC LA worked with Estolano Advisors and South LA stakeholders to develop the South LA Economic Inclusion Implementation Plan-- a three-year strategy that supports an integrated, place-based approach to advancing economic mobility for communities in South LA.

The recommendations outlined in this plan seek to nurture South LA’s strengths, address areas of need, connect South LA residents and businesses to regional economy, and foster connection across local organizations and entities to create ladders of economic opportunity for South LA residents. Given the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first year of the Implementation Plan is focused on deploying programs that address COVID-19 impacts on the South LA community.

Priorities for Economic Inclusion: Early Outcomes From Five Cities

Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Detroit, San Diego, and Philadelphia are among five cities that have been implementing community-centered economic inclusion for at least a year. This report answers the following questions: Is it possible for cities and regions to lessen economic injustice by fostering the growth of more opportunity within communities? How can cities assess if they're on pace to achieve the type of system-level transformation that's required? In today's pandemic period, what lessons have emerged for communities seeking to minimize economic inequity?
