LISC's Day of Service in NYC featured on NBC 4 NY

5.13.2019

On May 10th, 27 LISC employees joined together to reclaim an overgrown woodland space in Washington Heights adjacent to The Equity Project (TEP) Charter School. This renewed woodland will be used by the TEP elementary school as a bio-education learning space.

Staff at LISC are committed to bringing financial and technical resources to our local partners to assist them in forging resilient and inclusive communities, and they work day-in, day-out to accomplish this mission. Our day of service is a bit different. We get out from behind our desks and get our hands dirty—literally!

This year's LISC day of service was our fifth annual event organized in partnership with Rebuilding Together NYC and Deutsche Bank. As in previous years, we selected a service project that aligns with our longstanding community relationships. TEP’s new school is being developed by LISC NYC’s longtime partner West Side Federation for Senior & Supportive Housing (WSFSSH). This project was financed by LISC’s Charter School Financing program and NMTC allocation from New Market Support Company (with financing provided by Deutsche Bank).

We were thrilled to make so much progress, working alongside the students of TEP Charter School!  NBC 4 New York reported on the story.
