New housing and services lift veterans in the Bronx

A new supportive housing project in the Bronx is helping advance national efforts to end homelessness among veterans. Bridge Gardens, opened last week, is providing high-quality apartments and social services to chronically homeless, mentally ill veterans who are trying to reclaim their independence. It is the latest project supported by LISC's national Bring them HOMES initiative—a collaboration with National Equity Fund that has supported, 2,500 apartments for veterans across the country. It came to life thanks to the commitment of The Bridge, which developed the project, and a mix of public and private funding, including a critical grant from Citi Community Development.
