West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood Community Funding Opportunity

The West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood (WPPN) and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) will provide a Community Funding Opportunity for projects that support children living or attending school in the neighborhoods of Belmont, Mantua, Mill Creek, Powelton Village, West Powelton, Saunders Park and East Parkside.

The Community Funding Opportunity will provide money and project planning support to help launch projects that improve students’ safety, health, academic proficiency and opportunities for college & career preparation. WPPN invites you to propose project ideas that address Promise Neighborhood goals related to safety, health, reading outside of school and college & career preparation. • Feel safe at school and while traveling to and from school; greening projects on routes to schools are eligible
  • Read books outside of school (for children in K‐ 8th grade)
  • Talk about the importance of college and career and plan for achievement of educational and career goals (for parents and family members with children in 9th through 12th grade).

Up to 10 applicants may be selected to receive between $2,500 and $5,000. The participation of small organizations or volunteer-led groups is encouraged. Projects must be completed within 12 months.
