Employment Opportunity- Storytelling Teaching Artist

The Experience Eastern North tour program invites participants to learn about, enjoy, and connect with Eastern North Philadelphia – a neighborhood rich in cultural treasures, home to a thriving Latinx community and key moments and sites in our city’s history of art and activism.

Co-designed with neighborhood creative leaders, the tour program offer visitors a chance to enjoy the neighborhood’s food, music, art and history; hear stories from community members; and contribute to the cultural preservation of the community through ethical tourism.

The tours are:
RESIDENT DRIVEN & FOCUSED: We will support residents in sharing their lived experiences,
which provide the true context for the neighborhood. By hiring residents as tour guides, tour-goers learn about the neighborhood from neighbors themselves.
EXPERIENTIAL: Tours will be 2 to 3 hours long, designed to include activities such as eating at a local restaurant, creating art in a community garden, and participating in a service project.
COLLABORATIVELY DESIGNED & EXECUTED: Tours are co-created by residents and local
organizations.

We are seeking a storytelling teaching artist to design and facilitate a 3-part storytelling workshop series for neighborhood residents as a key part of our tour guide training. The teaching artist will lead a group of 10 – 15 participants in choosing and developing a story and confidently telling that story to an audience.
