Our Model

In 1995, LISC launched Rural LISC to expand its reach beyond urban areas to include rural communities. Today, Rural LISC partners with more than 140 rural community-based organizations. Together we are working to transform communities in more than 2,400 counties across the United States and U.S. Territories.

For a current "by the numbers" overview of Rural LISC's progress to date, see the Rural LISC Fact Sheet.

Rural LISC supports its Partner organizations through financial support and tailored technical assistance and training, helping them develop strategies that fit their local needs. Together with our partners, Rural LISC

  • Strengthens existing alliances while building new collaborations to increase our impact on the progress of people and places
  • Develops leadership and the capacity of partners to advance our work together
  • Equips talent in underinvested communities with the skills and credentials to compete successfully for quality income and wealth opportunities
  • Invests in businesses, housing and other community infrastructure to catalyze economic, health, safety and educational mobility for individuals and communities
  • Drives local, regional, and national policy and system changes that foster broadly shared prosperity and well-being
  • Connects rural colleagues and partners through frequent events such as the Rural LISC Annual Seminar

Anchored by technical assistance, capacity building support; diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, Rural LISC supports community-based organizations through five pillars. Navigate through the side menu to learn more about each of these areas of focus.
