Commercial Districts

Strong business districts have a profound positive impact on surrounding communities.

LISC Toledo works in moderate and low-income communities with struggling retail strips and unoccupied storefronts to strengthen the commercial district. In these communities, it is of vital importance that these businesses grow because of the profound positive impact on the surrounding communities. Their growth brings a wider array of retail options to residents and creates jobs, and the businesses ultimately serve as physical anchors that improve safety and use of public spaces within the community.

LISC Toledo invested in
4,000 square feet
for commercial space in 2020.

LISC Toledo revitalizes these commercial districts and stimulates economic development by coordinating efforts between community-based organizations, municipal partners, and local business owners.

We work with our partners to upgrade physical surroundings, attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones, and boosting the community’s reputation as a good place to shop, live, and do business.
