Los Angeles, California

Entrepreneurs of Color Fund is committed to supporting diverse business owners in the Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles, CA

The EOCF launched in greater Los Angeles in September 2021 as part of LISC’s major expansion of the program nationwide. While the city boasts the largest number of small employer businesses in the U.S. – 250,000 – African American and Latinx entrepreneurs make up only a very small group – 2% and 11%, respectively, despite representing 57% of the city’s population. Our mission is to provide both capital and technical assistance to close the gap.

On The Move

We are starting strong, thanks in part to a commitment of $2.65 million in funds from JPMorgan Chase.

Lapids Korner, Inc.

Angelito Lapid turned to EOCF to get the funding he needed to grow his business, Lapids Korner Inc., a company that makes the Filipino snack food chicharrones and sells wholesale to Asian grocery stores around Los Angeles. Angelito started in 2019 and through dedication and hard work scaled up bit-by-bit. He first cooked at home in his kitchen, sold his snacks to friends and marketed by word-of-mouth. Lapids grew and in 2021, Angelito bought three industrial-sized woks and moved the business to a commercial kitchen space giving him the capacity to cook 600 pounds a day. EOCF lending will help make the next leap forward possible - hiring help and buying equipment to fill the sizable new orders Lapids is starting to receive from retail clients.

We are working with small businesses across a wide range of industries:

“Small businesses are critical contributors to a vibrant economy here in Los Angeles. But too often, entrepreneurs of color face challenges that prevent their full growth potential. The collaboration of the EOCF network enables us to better suppot small business owners to build financial stability, reach their growth goals and thrive.”

- Nicole Williams, Executive Director of LISC LA
