The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is dedicated to helping local partners transform neighborhoods into resilient and sustainable communities of choice and opportunity — good places to work, do business and raise children.

LISC Rhode Island tackles the issues that have the greatest impact on community, family, and individual stability - affordable housing, financial literacy and workforce development, health equity, early learning and child care environments - and ensuring residents have a voice in matters that affect their future.

We accomplish this by working with residents, community based organizations and local leaders to forge resilient and inclusive communities of opportunity where residents can thrive.

Since we opened our Rhode Island office in 1991, we have invested more than $529 million in Rhode Island neighborhoods, helping to create more than 10,140 homes that are affordable, and supported the development of more than $2.2 million sq. ft. of commercial, child care, education and community space. This investment leveraged more than $1.8 billion of community development activity here in Rhode Island.
