Marketing Agent Training

LISC NYC, in partnership with New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), Goldman Sachs, and Enterprise Community Partners launched the Marketing Agent Training series to prepare Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) and non-profit firms interested in becoming affordable housing agents for New York City’s Housing Connect lotteries system.

New York City needs firms to perform marketing activities, such as advertising, unit lease-up/sale, tenant eligibility review, and ongoing compliance), on a growing number of affordable housing projects in the Housing Connect lottery process. Through an RFQ the City will establish a prequalified list of marketing agents, who are eligible to work on City-sponsored housing projects. Firms that want to capitalize on this growing industry by adapting their existing businesses or improving their capabilities can apply for the Marketing Agent Training series.

Through three cycles (Winter, Spring and Fall 2021), the program offered in-depth virtual training on:

  • Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Compliance
  • Fair Housing & Reasonable Accommodations

By completing the training, firms will have some qualifications necessary to become Qualified Marketing Agents through the Agency RFQ. To date 34 firms have sent 60 staff participants through the training.
