Community Leadership

We believe in investing in our local partners and see an important role for us in Rhode Island as convener. Throughout the year, we host various meetings and training sessions designed to bring people together to exchange ideas and gain new perspectives.  We host quarterly Leadership Breakfast Forums on topics at the forefront of change in Rhode Island.  We also host capacity building workshops for our partners and local non-profits through our Neighborhood Development Fund and our workforce development initiatives with SNAP E&T providers. We also offer insights into national trends and issues through the LISC Institute and briefs on legislative initiatives from LISC Policy.

Katharine Stevens was the speaker at a LISC Leadership Forum focused on early learning and child care. Stevens leads the early-childhood program at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) in Washington, D.C., and focuses on the research, policy, and politics of early care and education.

Turning Knowledge into Action

LISC Rhode Island also provides access to LISC National resources through its LISC Institute. This program area provides webinars and resources for our non-profit partners on how to turn cutting-edge community development ideas into action. Building on the experience of LISC’s national network of partners, we provide training, resources, and guidance on strategies that forge resilient and inclusive communities of opportunity across America.
