During COVID, like every organization, LISC Indianapolis had to adapt our work to the pandemic reality that affects the communities and organizations we serve and with whom we partner. However, the pandemic also created cause for new partnerships and the introduction of new resources to connect with Indy communities that are most vulnerable to the effects of the pandemic. In 2020 and 2021, LISC Indianapolis deployed:
- $2M in PPP loans to small businesses and organizations unable to access the program through a bank
- (8) 0%-interest microloans averaging $4,200 through our Kiva micro-lending partnership to women or minority owned businesses
- (178) $5000 grants to small businesses with fewer than 10 employees through a locally-funded and managed Small Business Recovery Grant for Minority, Immigrant and Women-owned Businesses
- (75) $20,000 and (17) $10,000 Neighborhood Business Grants in partnership with our national LISC office to local businesses impacted by the pandemic
Across each of these resources, more than 90% of the recipients were Black, Latino or other racial/ethnic minorities. The following is a Small Business Directory to help promote many of the small businesses that have received LISC funding this year.
