Thrive: Spotlight Chris Goode

As the world navigates COVID-19, LISC Greater Kansas City believes it is important to honor those difference makers in our community - essential organizations and individuals that have stepped up to continue providing critical goods and services to the public. Many have gone above and beyond by continuing to work and volunteer in the midst of these challenging times. Chris Goode, CEO and founder of Ruby Jean’s, is making a difference in racial justice in Kansas City. As a Parks and Recreation board member, he used his position and voice to create momentum around equity.

[The] Removal of JC Nichols’ name as someone that didn’t really stand for our people was very important for me. Not only me, but for the city.
— Chris Goode

His main goal is progress, which shows in the Kansas City Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners voting unanimously to remove JC Nichols’ name from the fountain in Mill Creek Park and the parkway near the park.
