Our Work

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation's 36th program office, LISC Memphis, launches with support from The Kresge Foundation. The office will collaborate with local nonprofits, developers, business leaders, policymakers and residents to drive progress. LISC Memphis will align its work with the City’s Memphis 3.0 Comprehensive Plan, which lays out an ambitious vision for economic development and income growth. In particular, it takes on a rising local poverty rate, which was approaching 28 percent even before the pandemic caused a health crisis and recession that has disproportionately impacted low-wage workers and people of color.

Memphis Home Empowerment Loan Program
(901 HELP)

Help For Memphis Homeowners in Need of Home Repairs

LISC Memphis and the City of Memphis Division of Housing & Community Development launched the Memphis Home Empowerment Loan Program (901HELP). 901 HELP provides low-interest home repair loans between $5,000 and $25,000 to homeowners in the City of Memphis who meet income and other eligibility requirements. The program is a loan, not a grant, and must be paid back over a ten-year period. For more information, please visit www.home901.org.

Additional funds have been awarded by congressional appropriation thanks to Congressman Steve Cohen. These funds will provide grants to seniors meeting certain income and other eligibility requirements. We are working with all deliberate speed to obtain and deploy these funds.  In the meantime, please email liscmemphis@lisc.org with your name, address, telephone number, and email address and we will notify you when funds are available.
