Capacity Building

LISC was founded on that belief with the mission to support local organizations to become strong and stable neighborhood institutions characterized by effective and responsible fiscal management and capable of of carrying out a range of activities that contribute to community betterment.

Through the years, LISC LA has launched a spectrum of organizational capacity building programs, including the Black Business Technical Assistance Program (BBET), the Keep it Affordable Academy, the ATI Incubation Academy, and the ELEVATE Black Leaders program in the past year.

HUD Section 4 Program

LISC is one of three organizations that administer the HUD Section 4 Program under the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department. Each year, LISC LA invites partners to apply for 12-month HUD Section 4 grants. Through HUD Section 4, LISC LA partners with community development corporations (CDCs) and community housing development organizations (CHDOs) to enhance the capacity and ability of CDCs and CHDOs to carry out community development and affordable housing activities that benefit low-income persons.
