Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Chicago is the local office of the nation’s leading community development support organization, working in Chicago neighborhoods since 1980. With residents and partners, LISC forges resilient and inclusive communities of opportunity across America – great places to live, work, visit, do business and raise families.
JP Morgan Chase is teaming up with LISC, Accion and Fifth Third Bank on an investment effort to support the growth of minority-owned businesses on Chicago’s South and West Sides. LISC’s Maurice A. Jones joined Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, to announce the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund—a model built on the bank’s similar efforts in other cities--as well as related support for small business mentoring. This initiative aligns with our strategy for building wealth and ownership in communities at every level. A key tenet of our economic development strategy is that power and wealth comes through ownership. Investing in local businesses and entrepreneurship is essential to creating community wealth and power and, is integral to supporting the communities we serve.
