Who We Are

Philadelphia LISC works alongside partners to create equitable neighborhoods of choice and opportunity.

Philadelphia LISC is a champion for equitable community development; working alongside residents and partners to forge inclusive communities of choice and opportunity.

We leverage corporate, government, and philanthropic resources to equip underserved communities with the capital, strategy and know-how to become places to thrive. Our toolkit is extensive. It includes loans, grants, equity investments, capacity building, and is informed by resident-led solutions.

Our Guiding Principles:

  • Collaboration:  LISC supports communities and partners that are open and enthusiastic about working together to create positive change, solve problems and spark innovation. We work to find common ground, identify shared priorities, and play on our strengths to revitalize neighborhoods and improve lives.
  • Engagement:  LISC values resident participation in the planning, decision-making, and implementation of neighborhood revitalization efforts. By building the capacity of residents as informed leaders, willing partners and capable volunteers, we can help build connections and a shared belief that residents can affect positive lasting change.
  • Impact:  LISC holds itself accountable to achieve real, measurable results related to both people and place. Through neighborhood revitalization, LISC helps to transform thousands of people’s lives as they have places to call home, livable wage jobs, quality options for food and health care, safe places to play, etc.

Philadelphia’s underserved neighborhoods become better places to live, work, do business and raise families.  Since 1980, Philadelphia LISC has invested more than $435 million to build or preserve more than 8,500 affordable homes and to develop more than 2.3 million square feet of retail, community, and educational space.
