Areas of Work

LISC Bay Area resources community-based organizations to ensure that neighborhood residents and business owners have the funds and capacity to create abundant housing, vibrant local businesses, thriving neighborhoods, and a more just Bay Area.

We are a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), which is just a fancy term for a non-profit bank. Our mission is bigger than most traditional CDFIs, which focus solely on lending. Not only do we make loans and grants to projects, people, and organizations for whom traditional banks are inaccessible, but we also offer a wide array of economic development and capacity-building programs to deepen our impact. We focus our efforts on two main areas: Affordable Housing and Economic Development.
