Community Violence Intervention and Prevention (CVIPI)

Much of LISC's safety and justice work focuses on helping communities interrupt cycles of violence and retaliation and prevent violence before it starts. Community violence happens outside of homes, in public spaces. While it is typically caused by only a few people, its effects on residents and businesses can be far-reaching. LISC helps local agencies, community-based partners, and residents collaborate to identify root causes of violence, pinpoint locations where it is more likely to occur, and plan and implement solutions using the data they have gathered. LISC is partnering with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Everytown for Gun Safety, and others in this effort.
