Academic Excellence Finds a Permanent Home in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School educates more than 2,100 children and youth in grades K – 12, with a focus on preparing a diverse student body to have a positive impact on society and develop a lifelong passion for learning. LISC is providing a $12 million loan to support the renovation of a building that will become a permanent home for their elementary school.

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School (BPCS) is a community of six high-performing schools with plans for expansion. The network’s mission is to increase access to a quality education as an essential part of community development. LISC is providing a $12 million loan that will support the renovation of a building that will become a permanent home for BPCS International Elementary School (IES). The school, which is currently co-located with another BPCS site, will move to a former archdiocese school building that is within a mile of BPCS Middle School, which students will attend upon completing IES.

BPCS educates more than 2,100 children and youth in grades K – 12 and aims to preparing a diverse student body to have a positive impact on society and develop a lifelong passion for learning. At the time of closing, 31 percent of BPCS students were eligible for free and reduced-price lunch. BCPS schools have consistently outperformed local and NY state schools at all grade levels in language arts and math.

The new building is a three-story, 41,980-square-foot facility that will accommodate approximately 500 elementary school students. The new school facility will help the BPCS offer a quality education to more children in a facility that fully meets their needs.
