Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grants: Grantee Resource Hub

Now that the infrastructure grant program has ended, we hope this page serves as a helpful record of the steps you completed. For ongoing support and child care resources beyond the grant program, please visit the Child Care Guides and Trainings page

Background: Who provided the funding?

LISC Phoenix partnered with the Arizona Department of Economic Security Division of Child Care and First Things First to provide $60 million in federal grant funding to child care providers. Because this funding came from Child Care Stabilization Grants through the American Rescue Plan, we were required to close out all projects by September 30, 2023. Funding was available to support the following activities: pre-development activities; quality infrastructure assessments; minor renovations to improve health and safety and support quality environments; and expansion activities to increase capacity that do not increase square footage. Please note that with the First Things First funds, you must use them to serve children in the 0 to 5 age range. If you serve both children in the 0 to 5 age range, and older, school age children, you can’t use the funds for items that only support school age children.

Note: This hub is a resource for child care providers who have already been notified of their grant award. At this time, the application is closed.

Process: I've been notified of my grant award – now what?

Congratulations! Please watch this video for an overview of the grant process and see our step-by-step guide for more detailed information.

Now, you’ll work with LISC Phoenix’s Child Care team to submit the rest of your documentation so that you can receive your grant agreement. Our team needs items like your W-9 and banking information, 3 years of financials, and more.

Once your documents are in order, you’ll receive a grant agreement from LISC. Review this carefully to understand your obligations through this federal grant award. Once you’ve signed your grant agreement, our team will work with you to disburse grant funds on a monthly basis.

Timeline: When do I need to wrap up my projects?

January – May 2023: LISC notified grant finalists of their awards, contingent on additional documentation and final LISC approval.
March – July 2023: Finalists provide additional documentation to LISC, review and sign grant agreement, and submit monthly requests for disbursements.
July 31, 2023: Final disbursement request for grant funds must be submitted.
September 30, 2023: Projects must be completed.

*Please note that for the First Things First round of grant funding, we can reimburse eligible expenses made on or after May 1, 2023.
