Who We Are

Strategies We Pursue

  • Strengthen existing alliances while building new collaborations to increase our impact on the progress of people and places
  • Develop leadership and the capacity of partners to advance our work together
  • Equip talent in underinvested communities with the skills and credentials to compete successfully for quality income and wealth opportunities
  • Invest in businesses, housing and other community infrastructure to catalyze economic, health, safety and educational mobility for individuals and communities
  • Drive local, regional, and national policy and system changes that foster broadly shared prosperity and well-being

Racial Equity

In 2020, we watched Black Lives Matter and other racial equity movements spotlight systemic inequities in our country, just as the dangers of COVID-19 brought the health-related disparities that have plagued Black America for centuries into stark relief. In response, LISC accelerated work with our partners to provide critical resources to those communities with the greatest need. LISC Connecticut has stepped up advocacy for desegregation, facilitating the development of affordable housing in suburban towns that have historically limited access to Black and Brown residents, and worked to ensure that diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are embedded in all of our programming.
