Verizon Small Business Recovery Fund: Local Grant Recipient

As part of their Verizon Small Business Recovery Fund, LISC and Verizon recently announced the first round of over 200 grant recipients from across the country- including 18 in the Bay Area- who will each receive $10,000 to support their small businesses during the COVID pandemic. Meet one of the Bay Area’s local winners below: 

City Pulse Acupuncture- $10,000 Grant Recipient 

City Pulse Acupuncture is an integrative acupuncture and wellness clinic that specializes in women’s health, fertility and pregnancy. They provide care and support to hopeful parents from pre conception through their fertility journey and during pregnancy. 

Rachel Hemphill, Founder, DACM, L.Ac., FABORM  

Rachel is a second generation Chinese American, doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese medicine, and a second generation Oaklander. A lifelong entrepreneur, Rachel comes from a long line of Oakland business owners: her grandfather owned grocery stores on 8th and Adeline and E. 24th and 24th Avenues.  

In her own words: “The Verizon Grant helped sustain our clinic throughout the pandemic by providing us with the necessary funds to pay rent, utilities and most importantly for supplies to help keep our patients safe as we navigate how to safely treat patients post-pandemic. I am very grateful to LISC for helping us keep our doors open and to help sustain an entrepreneur's dream.”
