Housing & Community Development Leadership Institute

In partnership with the Connecticut Department of Housing and Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, LISC coordinates the Housing & Community Development Leadership Institute (HCDLI), a program designed to foster a talent pipeline, including women of color, for the community development sector. The learning areas of focus for the program include:

  • Affordable housing development
  • Affordable housing asset management
  • Resident service delivery & engagement

The HCDLI supports a cohort of up to 20 participants who complete a defined list of courses designed to introduce fundamental aspects of community development. The participants engage in internships or other learning opportunities with a partnering CDC or other community development organization. LISC offers annual workshops that are open to HCDLI participants and entry-to mid-level CDC and community development sector employees. Other events include career panels and networking opportunities.

HCDLI’s goals are to create career pathways in the community development sector for BIPOC professionals, increase professional development opportunities for the community development sector more broadly, and build opportunities for networking and collaboration between professionals and organizations.
