Chihuahua Homes Plus

About the project

Our Casas Resident Council (OCRC) develops and implements initiatives for low income families. OCRC motives, organizes, and assists low income families toward self-sufficiency and into the economic mainstream of homeownership. OCRC fulfills this mission through homebuyer education, housing counseling, mortgage foreclosure prevention, debt management, credit counseling workshops, acquisition and management of rental units, and the acquisition of land and development of affordable single family housing units.

OCRC is located in San Antonio, TX.

LISC provided $353,000 in financing to support the new construction of two single family homes on Chihuahua Street in San Antonio, TX. OCRC has owned these lots since 2005 and has been rehabbing or building new homes in San Antonio’s Westside for more than 20 years. The Westside neighborhood is home to about 54,000 people, over 90% of whom are Hispanic. Each home will be 1,293 square feet and have three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The project will create new homeownership opportunities for San Antonio households up to 80% AMI. These homes are being built on long vacant lots, which have the added benefit of stabilizing the local housing market.
