Eastside Square

About the project

The mission of the Kalamazoo County Land Bank (KCLB) is to create vibrant communities through the elimination of blighted properties, the creation of affordable housing opportunities, and the stabilization of property. KCLB was founded in 2009 as a quasi-government agency that is independent from Kalamazoo County but works closely with this and other municipalities in the county to take tax-foreclosed, blighted, and underitilized properties and ge tthem back to active use, back on the tax rolls, and transform them into neighborhood assets.

Kalamazoo County Landbank Authority is located in Kalamazoo, MI.

LISC provided a $870,000 loan through our MacKenzie Scott partnership to fund the Eastside Square project, a mixed-use redevelopment that includes affordable, mixed-income housing, commercial space, and public places to gather. This project will support the new construction of six units of affordable homeownership on empty Landbank-owned parcels, and create opportunities for first-time home buyers to purchase a home and build wealth inside an at-risk neighborhood and corridor.
