Fairmount Heights Zero Energy Homes

About the project

Housing Initiative Partnership, Inc. (HIP) was founded by Mosi Harrington and a small group of social workers and homeless advocates in 1988. HIP creates housing and economic security for low- and moderate-income households and provides services that improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. Their housing and community development efforts in Prince George’s County focus on revitalizing older neighborhoods in order to increase opportunities for sustainable homeownership and affordable rental housing for Black, Brown and immigrant families and seniors.

HIP is based in Prince George's County, Maryland and serves communities across the state.

LISC provided $1.80 million in construction financing to support the redevelopment of a former municipal storage site into six new single-family homes. A central component of this affordable homeownership project are the extensive sustainability measures. Homes will be modular in construction and will meet multiple certifications: Energy Star, Indoor Air Plus, Water Sense, and likely Passive certification. The homes will also be equipped with rooftop solar. All homes will be restricted to households making no more than 80% AMI.
