Genesis Neighborhood Plaza

About the project

HELP USA was founded in 1986 with a mission to serve the diverse needs of the homeless population throughout the United States. Guided by the belief that access to housing is foundational to building safe and stable communities, HELP USA provides shelter to those who are at a higher risk of experiencing homelessness, including veterans, survivors of domestic violence, people with health challenges and disabilities, and seniors.

HELP USA is headquartered in New York City, NY, but its work transcends borders. With developments in areas such as Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, and Philadelphia, HELP USA is a national leader in the fight against homelessness.

LISC provided HELP USA a $500,000 working capital loan to cover repairs at Genesis Neighborhood Plaza while awaiting funds for a full-scale renovation. Genesis Neighborhood Plaza is a LIHTC project in Brooklyn's East New York neighborhood that includes 52 rental units affordable to families making no more than 60% of AMI. Some units are set aside specifically for families experiencing homelessness. LISC's funds will include replacing on of the building's elevators and mechanical upgrades.
